MOUNTBATTEN WAY
A light and bright bathroom.

As a first time buyer, before I met my client she had been slowly working her way through each of the rooms in her townhouse updating and changing the rooms. When it came to the bathroom design, she came to me feeling quite overwhelmed with the choices she had to make with the tiles and bathroom suites. She wanted a space that truely reflects her sense of style, and didn't want to spend more than £9,000 on the bathroom.

The bathroom was very white, cold and clinical, and she wanted to inject some colour, pattern and youth into the space. With a narrow window, pedestal basin and tiny bath the room really lacked any storage space. The bath was so narrow that you couldn't use it properly, and there was no shelf space to be able to put anything down.

By looking through some ideas together on Pinterest, we settled on a design that utilised a combination of tiles to create different zones in the space using terrazzo and stack bonded matt blue tiles in a colour block with the basin. To overcome the lack of storage I specified a floor standing bathroom cabinet in the same colour as the wall tiles to create harmony in the space. By widening the bath to a 750 the additional 100mm on the bath width meant my client could have a much more comfortable bath, and shower without hitting her arms on the shower screen. Making the basin tap and toilet concealed, meant that the boxing in housing the pipework would double up as a shelf space. This small design detail means that my client can now light a candles in all corners of the bathroom.

“The bathroom is so much more than it would have been had I tried to do this myself.”
"Really helpful that Sarah was able to do most of the liaising with the trade team as this is something I would have struggled to find the time to do myself. The bathroom is so much more than it would have been had I tried to do this myself with little touches like thoughtful storage options and lighting. It feels like a little daily luxury, would definitely recommend."
