KITCHEN
A contemporary handle less cashmere kitchen make over.

My client wanted to swap their existing gloss blue doors, for a warmer and more contemporary look. The extractor didn’t work and the room felt cold and uninviting.
The glass splashback was dated, and the lighting was in a ice white colour which made the room look stark.
The also wanted to replace the floor and upgrade their heating system. They also wanted a black aluminium door into the garden, in replacement of the white UPVC window that was already there.

With the kitchen being only 10 years old, the cabinets and layout worked for what they needed. The only appliance we changed was the extractor and that was because the original one was made of glass and was very difficult to clean.
The existing dark grey tile was very cold underfoot, and made the room feel cold and dull. The internal panel doors were original to the age of the house, and felt light and flimsy.
The main change to this room was the replacement external door and window to the garden. We specified and installaed a stunning aluminium framed double glazed sliding door to allow views of the garden into the kitchen and increase the natural light.

We removed the tiles on the floor and fitting LVT in a herringbone pattern throughout the kitchen, hallway and dining room. By adding a thermal underlay this helped the room to feel warmer underfoot.
We changed the radiators to a higher BTU and added vertical height to the room giving maximum heat to the smallest footprint of the rooms layout.
By carrying out a new lighting design, we added down lights throughout the kitchen on a dimmable circuit. We changed the island pendant, and added in a off centred pendant above the sofa for mood lighting.
All kitchen doors were swapped and we added in end panels and light pelmets throughout for a more finished design. All under cabinet lighting was changed to a more modern dotless warm white system.
