MASTER BEDROOM

A warm & uplifting contemporary master bedroom.

The homeowner relocated from London, and bought a stunning 5 bedroom detached new build in Wysall. Situated in a stunning location, the house itself lacked any personality, and they were at a loss of how to decorate and style their master bedroom.
They were desperate for a splash of colour, but didn't know what colour to choose. They also needed new lighting, mirrors and some more storage space, but couldn't find furniture to fit the awkward shape and size of the room.
Unusually, this Master Bedroom had a partition wall behind the bed that houses the wardrobes. There were no doors, and it felt as though the bed was floating in the middle of the room.
My client wanted a design that worked with this architectural detail, but also created a focal point for the bedroom.
The radiator was positioned in the middle of the window. This meant that the only bit of wall space where the vanity table could form a focal point upon, had a radiator in the way.
By moving the radiator to the right of the window, and changing it to a vertical panel radiator I was able to create symmetry either side of the window using wall panelling in a vertical format to mirror the shape of the radiator.
To hide the wardrobes, I also designed a bespoke curved curtain track that was fitted to the ceiling. This created a dramatic floor to ceiling fabric block of beautiful white sheer fabric. Allowing light into the wardrobe space, but also hiding the cabinetry behind it.
The wall panelling also featured behind the bed, and created a textured frame to house the long mirrors. Having these positioned behind the pendant lights bounced the light and garden views into the mirror, making the room feel bigger and more expansive.
