With a passion for relaxation, it was important to my client that this room was all about the TV and maximising comfort. The sofa was equally as important, as my client suffered with a bad back so having a bespoke sofa where he could decide how it felt, as well as how it looked was a really important feature in this design.

With the TV positioned under the window, it meant that my client was always fighting the sunshine when trying to watch TV. By repositioning it on the other side of the room, it gave that area of the room more space to have a much bigger U-Shape sofa. It also meant that my client wasn’t facing the sun directly when watching TV.

Layers of monochrome greys, whites and black feature throughout this space with the occasional injection of foliage from plants. Sheer curtains replaced the heavy weight lined curtains, so that my client had more control over the light in this space during the daytime when watching TV. Options for black out roller blinds were included in the design, however my clients budget dictated the choice of just one window treatment on the windows rather than two. A happy compromise, as these full length curtains gives my client more control over the light, whilst still feeling cosy at night. Bespoke artwork sourced from a UK print artists picks up on the monochrome design, whilst the glass rod lighting diffuses the light whilst adding texture to the walls and ceiling.

By removing the bricks on the inside of the living room, and sealing off the opening we were able to reposition the sofa and create a much grander living room with the use of a U-Shape bespoke sofa. The design originally featured an Ethanol fireplace with bespoke media wall however my client decided not to proceed with this design feature at this time due to budget constraints. Now that the electrics and plumbing positioning have been changed, adding a media wall in at a later date is totally achievable once budget allows.
