CHARLBURY ROAD
LIVING ROOM
A family room that evokes colours from their travels in Mexico.
-
To create an adult living room, with additional storage so that the whole family can enjoy using the space.
-
As this room originally had two doors, a bay window and a central chimney stack, there was a serious lack of “wallspace”. With no wall length long enough to take a 3 seater sofa, I suggested to my client that they block one of the doors off so to stop it from feeling like a through room.
-
Before my clients started their family, they had travelled around the world and been to some amazing places. Particularly inspired by their time in Mexico, I drew my colour palette from there by using heavily pigmented and saturated colours that contrast against one another. These jewel like tones, were woven throughout the room adding points of interest and texture into the space.

“We love our new lounge. The sofas look great and are extremely comfortable, we love sitting with guests in there or watching TV in the evening. We wanted to all be able to sit comfortably and watch a film as a family and Sarah’s clever use of space has enabled that. We feel so happy to have reclaimed a more adult friendly room in our house.”
